Happy Easter Sunday Guys! Hope everyone got to enjoy some time with your loved ones and eat some delicious food! Easter as an adult is a little different. I don’t have the luxuries of being gifted an Easter Basket (this adulting thing does suck). I still do participate in the Easter Egg Hunt since I am forever a kid at heart :). Today the weather went all the way up to 80 degrees, so it was perfect timing for me to whip up some peach cobbler for the family. I am just a few days late with this one National Peach Cobbler Day which was April 13. Cobbler’s are such an easy recipe to make, and you end up with amazing results. There are many different ways you can make peach cobbler. Certain recipes call for a more liquid batter that you lay in the pan and top with peaches. My recipe has you dropping biscuits right onto the peach mixture.
Lois // Wine on Tap!
I recently checked out Louis Wine Bar and immediately was sold when one of my friends told me there was wine on tap. It was the perfect outing to hit on the beautiful Sunday we just had in New York. Spring has finally decided to show up, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Restaurant Review // The Edge
A few of my girlfriends and I decided to take advantage of Black Owned Restaurant week happening in Harlem. This is similar to the restaurant week that happens in big cities all over the country. In which certain restaurants offer a prefix menu for a set price. Black Owned Restaurant Week offers the same deal, but you get to support Black Owned Business. The Edge was one of the restaurants participating and I must admit that a 3-course meal for $30 is hard to turn down! Check out the link here to find other restaurants that are participating.
5ish Ingredient Chicken
I LOVE cooking but hate spending hours upon hours in the kitchen. Whenever I am able to make quick meals that have loads of flavor, and minimal dishes I get too excited! This recipe uses ingredients that are simple to find if you don’t already own them. Since I am such a lover of 1 pan dishes my Pinterest board usually has a few of these 1 pan dishes that gives me inspiration to the meals I create.
Split Pea Soup
The Tri- State area was in a frenzy Monday night preparing for Blizzard Stella. I already knew the grocery store was going to be pure mayhem. Luckily I was able to order all my groceries off food kick. Which is a great delivery service for groceries, you get 30 days free and then after your 30 days you just pay $3.99 for your delivery. This is very convenient in situations where you want nothing to do with the grocery store. Since I had a strong feeling that I would be snowed in the next day. I knew there was nothing better than some comforting food.
Amazing Acai Smoothie Bowl + 5 other must try bowls!
With daylights saving time here, in my head we are a couple steps closer to summer! I have been craving a good smoothie bowl for a while. I mean who wouldn’t want one? They are jam packed with nutrition, filling, and so damn beautiful.
Meal Prep 101
Whoever said Sunday’s are for relaxing must not meal prep.
My Sunday’s mostly consist of Church, Trader Joe’s, and cooking for the week. Before I blink it’s time to get ready for work. I’m just waiting for the time we have 3 day weekends all the time. What keeps me in check when it comes to eating healthy is my meal prepping.
Dip Baby Dip!
Sweet or savory? That is the question?
Agave Mustard Chicken Avocado Salad
You know what they say? Summer bodies are made in the winter. With that being said I have been trying my best to eat healthier(with a cheat meal every now and then), drink more water, and workout more constantly. It’s almost the end of the month and I think this is a great check point to see how those goals are doing. So day 27 have you made any progress towards your goal? How’s your new year, new me working out for you? Hoping you have made some progress I can certainly say I have been improving. One of my goals for the year was to eat healthier and workout at least 4 times per week. It’s been hard and it’s only been 3 weeks in.
Buttermilk Brined Oven Roasted Cornish Hens
With the holiday season just behind us, I hope everyone enjoyed their time with their loved ones, and Santa brought you everything your heart desires (He’s still, a little lost and owes me a couple of gifts 😂). Christmas at my house is pretty small, it’s just my parents, and my siblings. I think we are all getting too old for our Christmas traditions, but neither the less I still love spending time with my Family.
This Christmas I had the opportunity of getting to plan our whole dinner! This was a first for me which I was really excited about. It all started with a simple text of me sending my mom a picture of amazing Cornish Hens I saw on Pinterest and was on board. I honestly think my mom was still worn out by our Thanksgiving Feast.
